Empowering Health Care Providers with Version 2.0 of VA’s Exposure Ed Mobile App

by Lori Brown, RN, MSN, MBA, MLS Biological and Medical Sciences Librarian, Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME)--lori.brown9@va.gov on October 11, 2024

VA Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME) proudly presents Version 2.0 of the Exposure Ed app, a powerful provider tool for accessing relevant and timely information about military exposures and related VA policies and programs.

Empowering Health Care Providers

VA HOME created the Exposure Ed app to help educate health care providers about military-related exposures so they can better serve our nation’s Veterans. Many Veterans may have been at risk of exposure to a range of chemical, physical, and/or environmental hazards during their service, and the information and resources provided through Exposure Ed can help health care professionals to have more tailored discussions with Veterans about their exposure history during medical appointments, exposure assessments, and environmental registry evaluations.

Improved User Experience

Version 2.0 of the Exposure Ed app has several new user-friendly features, including:

  • Nearby VA facilities are now easier to find: The app now incorporates Location Services, enabling users to easily find the nearest VA facilities to their current location, improving access to care and resources.
  • VA contact information: Health care providers can now conveniently locate points of contact at VA facilities to share with their Veteran patients, streamlining the communication and coordination of care for Veterans;
  • Recent announcements from HOME: Version 2.0 provides access to recent announcements from VA HOME regarding military exposure issues, including recently published HOME newsletters. This ensures that users stay informed about crucial updates in a timely manner; and
  • PACT Act Information: Providers can easily access information on benefits provided by the PACT Act and the purpose of Toxic Exposure Screening.
