Bring Laufey Book Club Library Cards to Your Library

Summer is here, and that means public libraries across the U.S. are gearing up for Library Card Sign-up Month in September. This year, GRAMMY® Award-winner Laufey will serve as the American Library Association’s honorary chair for the celebration.
In partnership with ALA, the Laufey Book Club is offering public libraries everywhere the opportunity to launch their own Laufey Book Club branded collaborative library cards. Interested libraries must complete the enrollment form by Friday, July 10. Cards will launch concurrently on August 23, just in time for Library Card Sign-up Month. Libraries of any size are eligible to participate.

Fulton County Library System youth services librarian, Grace Stannard, shows off her Laufey Book Club library card, while purchasing a new Laufey READ poster at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
Laufey is the youngest ever and two-time recipient of the GRAMMY® Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and has captivated a generation with virtuosic songs of love and self-discovery by manifesting her vision of jazz- and classical-infused pop music. In 2025, she was named as one of TIME’s Women of the Year. In 2022, she founded the Laufey Book Club to foster a global community of readers. Her first picture book, Mei Mei The Bunny, is a New York Times Bestseller and available now from Penguin Workshop, an imprint of Penguin Random House Children’s Books.
Last year, Laufey partnered with four U.S. public library systems—Boston Public Library, Fulton County (Ga.) Library, LA County Library, and Phoenix Public Library, as well as a library system in Iceland—to launch limited edition Laufey Book Club collaborative library cards and encourage library card sign-ups in celebration of her annual fan activation in August, A Very Laufey Day. Library card sign-ups broke records at most of the library systems the day the cards launched. Several LA County Library branches “sold out” of cards almost immediately.
The Laufey Book Club collaborative library cards are a great way for your library to bring in new patrons or offer an exciting new card for frequent visitors. Enroll your library by July 10.
