Registration for the PLA 2014 Virtual Conference is now open. On March 13-14, 2014, the Public Library Association (PLA) will share a condensed, live and online PLA Conference with public librarians and public library workers who can’t make the trip to Indianapolis.

The PLA 2014 Virtual Conference will include many familiar elements of the onsite conference, including high-quality educational programming, author interviews and networking opportunities with colleagues. Each day will feature five live programs—the same programs available to in-person conference attendees.

Confirmed PLA 2014 Virtual Conference programs include:

·         ABC – Always Be Circulating: How Public Libraries Meet Demand and Increase Use

·         Black Belt Librarians: How to Effectively and Safely Inform Patrons of Library Rules

·         Cheap and Easy: An Introduction to Passive Programming

·         Developing a Staff Competency Program That Works!

·         Do You Know Where Your Librarian Is? Building Relationships Outside the Building

·         Meeting Public Service Expectations by Breaking the Service Model

·         The Most Dangerous Idea of All: Change from the Bottom Up

As PLA finalizes the virtual conference schedule, new programs and updated information can be found at www.placonference.org/virtual-conference. PLA is offering both individual and group registration for the virtual conference. Individual registration is $230 for PLA and ILF members, $285 for ALA members, $340 for nonmembers and $105 for students. Group registration is $575 and allows a single location to host the virtual conference for multiple attendees. Register for the PLA 2014 Virtual Conference at www.placonference.org/virtual-conference. Registration closes on Monday, March 3, 2014.

Offered biennially, PLA Conference is the premier event for public libraries, drawing librarians, library support staff, trustees, friends and library vendors from across the country and around the world. The conference includes nearly 200 top-quality continuing education programs, engaging social events, networking opportunities and a bustling exhibits hall. PLA 2014, will be held March 11-15 in Indianapolis.
