ALA Seeks E-rate Funding for Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending
Libraries have always played a critical role in bridging the digital divide by providing internet access to the public. However, traditional library Wi-Fi networks are limited to the physical boundaries of the building, leaving many patrons without access outside of library hours. The FCC’s proposed expansion of E-rate eligibility to include Wi-Fi hotspots represents a significant step forward in closing the digital divide and ensuring that all Americans have access to the internet.
